Dimensions

• Support country teams to ensure MEAL processes are engendered and include protection to ensure learning is captured.
• Supporting the organisation to learn how resilience programming can address gender power imbalances and transformative change.

Skills and Competence
• Substantial and demonstrable experience working on gender and protection issues in humanitarian and early recovery contexts.
• Proven experience of successful capacity-building of field staff and partners.
• Technical expertise in gender and protection in humanitarian and early recovery contexts.
• Good understanding of gender issues in WASH and EFSL – with a particular emphasis on Cash Transfers, Social Safety Nets, DRR and CFW.
• Excellent communication skills, Good levels of spoken and written English.
• Good understanding of protection issues as related to conflict including IHL and key protection standards such as Sphere Protection Principles and ICRC Protection Standards.
• Commitment to a rights-based approach, gender equality and protection.
• Proven analytical and strategy development skills. Understanding of monitoring processes, learning, adaptation and evaluation.
• Ability to work in multi-cultural team.
• Willingness to work in insecure environments and a high level of adaptability and initiative.
• Good levels of spoken and written Arabic are not essential but desirable.

Jordan: Child Protection Officer



Background
War Child works with children who, as a result of conflict, live with a combination of poverty, exclusion and insecurity. These children might include street children, child headed households, children conscripted into armed groups, and children who have been put in prison. Our mission is to support and improve the care and protection of children and young people who live with a combination of insecurity, poverty and exclusion in some of the worse conflict-affected places. Description of the Role
War Child UK is recruiting a Child Protection Officer who will work with the programmes team and local partner organisations to work with the Syrian refugees in Jordan and vulnerable Jordanians in host communities.
The Child Protection Officer will provide critical support to new programme development and extending War Child’s work for the Syrian Refugee Response in Jordan. The Child Protection Officer will be line managed by the Programme Manager in Jordan. The Programme Manager will provide direction and support on all issues related to programming, reporting, and monitoring and evaluation.
Key responsibilities
o Coordination: To lead on all Child Protection programmatic areas, ensuring Child Protection is mainstreamed in to all War Child UK and partner projects. Also to engage with the relevant networks within the country.
o Capacity Building/Organisational Strengthening: Identify needs and build capacity of partner organisations (Child Protection Networks, local authorities and partner organisations) in key programme areas.
o Gather information for future programmes: Show good knowledge and understanding of the country context and its internal dynamics to identify gaps in services available in order to propose possible interventions in line with WCUK values and mission.
o Monitoring and Evaluation: Work with the Programme Manager to record outputs and outcomes on the WCUK M&E system that is in line with donor and organisational requirements
o Compliance: Ensure adherence to donor and organisational requirements, including child protection policy, by War Child and partner staff.
Contractual Terms
o Position: Fixed term Contract of 1 (one) year with possible extension dependent on funding
o Salary: £26,470 and 29,590 (gross, dependent on experience)
o Working Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week.
o Probation: 3 months
o Leave: 30 days pa, increasing by one day for each year’s service up to a maximum of 5 additional days

Cats Protection is currently seeking a professional fundraiser to work throughout a number of different shopping venues as well as at shows and exhibitions, to help raise vital funds for the charity that will contribute to the £500,000 that the charity needs to raise every week in order to continue its valuable work.

The successful candidate will for the majority of time work alone as a fundraiser, travelling between different venues and shows up to a 60 mile radius from Staines-upon-Thames, and therefore to towns and cities including High Wycombe, Reading, Basingstoke, Guildford and Crawley.

Equipped with a display stand to help create a professional image and presence, the successful candidate will engage in conversation with members of the public, int! erested to hear about the work of Cats Protection, and will as! k each person whether they would like to support the charity by making a regular donation on a monthly basis, setting up a direct debit for those that are interested in doing so.

This fundraiser role is not a hard selling role, but a role all about conversation and personality. The successful candidate will:

  • Have worked in a previous face-to-face fundraising or sales environment.
  • Have an innate passion for cats and kittens.
The successful candidate will work on a self-employed basis although this is not a commission only role, and can work on either a full time or part time basis. A flat fee of £58.00, the equivalent of approximately £7.25 per hour is paid for each day worked; together with a handsome bonus for achieving the minimum performance level toget! her with further bonuses for over-achievement. Realistic earning expectations for all fundraisers are between £15,000 and £25,000 per annum, with top performing fundraisers earning up to £30,000. Full travel expenses are also reimbursed.

Iraq: Emergency Child Protection Manager

Role: The Child Protection manager will act as the technical lead on all child protection-related programming for the Save the Children emergency response in KRG and Anbar Governorates. The CP manager will be expected, with limited support, to lead on child protection-related assessments, programme design and implementation and coordination with stakeholders. In addition, she/he will oversee the monitoring & evaluation of child protection activities and assist on relevant donor reporting. The CP PM will also be expected to play a leadership role within a response team, supporting and building the capacity of collea gues. The role is based in Kurdistan Regional Governorates (KRG) with travel to Anbar Governorate, Iraq and for 12 months. Key areas of accountability: Programme Support: * Expand and update as needed the CP Program Strategy for KRG refugee camp and urban populations; refugees in Anbar Governorate. * Prepare and oversee programme implementation to ensure timely delivery of programme activities, including monitoring against log frames, individual performance management work plans, identifying programme supplies needs and coordinating with the logistics team to put in place a sensible phased procurement plan. Programmes to develop and implement include: * Construction and equipment of CFS/YFS across all CP Program locations (urban and rural) – with ongoing child and youth appropriate activities, including life-skills for youth; * Awareness campaigns in camp and urban settings on child protection issues; * Development of training materials and training and capacity building of SC, partner, volunteer and CFS/YFS facilitators in child protection and child resilience issues and programming, with a focus on psycho-social support. * Strategically plan staffing needs to implement the CP program activities and work with the HR team to recr uit in line with approved awards; assist in training CP staff and volunteers, and staff from key partner organisations. * Collaborate with CP teams in Iraq and neighbouring countries to use best practice and existing materials for CP activities. Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting: * Lead on child protection assessments as required, ensuring assessment findings are documented and that all assessments include a disaggregated analysis of children’s needs. * Working closely with the Monitoring & Evaluation team put in place a child protection M & E plan, ensuring this links to reporting requirements, and capacity build child protection and M&E field staff in carrying out the work. * Put in place accountability activities for child protection, ensuring that feedback from all relevant stakeholders is considered in programme design. * Prepare timely programme and donor reports on child protection project activit ies in compliance with internal SC requirements and any relevant external donor requirements Fundraising and Advocacy: * Working closely with senior staff, support fundraising for child protection, including development of high quality concept notes and proposals. * Ensure that Save the Children’s work is coordinated with efforts of other agencies and Government, and take a leadership role within Interagency Coordination forums, ensuring the specific needs of children are being addressed. This may involve taking the lead in the Child Protection Working Group and/or sub-groups. Capacity Building: * Identify learning and training opportunities for Save the Children staff and partners and support and build the capacity of less experienced staff. * Save the Children is a dual mandate organisation and as such the Child Protection Manager is also expected to support the ongoing development work of the Iraq CO as the workload and needs allow. Over the last year, IMC has expanded programming to respond to the needs of an increasing number of Syrian refugees in both Za’atri refugee camp and urban communities. In the coming months, IMC’s programming will expand further, with increased protection support and GBV prevention and response among Syrian refugee populations. Job Summary: The primary function of the Protection/GBV Coordinator is to support the scale-up of protection activities amongst urban and camp-based Syrian refugees, including GBV prevention and response activities. 1. Program Planning • Work closely with the Country Director, MHPSS Advisor, Program Managers and Program Coordinator/Grant Manager to understand program goals and to meet expectations • Contribute to ongoing assessments and analyses to better understand protection risks, to map points of service for survivors of GBV and vulnerable individuals, and to identify support structures • Analyze trends of GBV and develop/adjust program strategies to meet needs • Contribute to program design and the preparation of concept notes and proposals 2.
